Intro to Farming

This six-week intro to farming class will give you a sense of what it takes to be a farmer and grow your own food. You will have the opportunity to get your hands dirty, grow your own food, and learn about different ways you can become a better steward of the Earth.  The class will take you through the life cycle of a plant, from seed starting to harvest fresh produce. We will take an in-depth look at plant health, nutrients, companion planting, beneficial insects, composting and the many benefits of eating local and growing your own food.

Class details:

  • Class size will be limited to 4 - 6 students to ensure safe, social distancing procedures.

  • All of our lessons will be held outside and all tools and materials will belong to each individual student and won’t be shared.

  • Students are required to wear masks and will work no less than six feet apart from each other at their own work stations with their own supplies.

  • Please review the attached sheets on all of the health and safety measures we will be following, in compliance with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
